June 30, 2022

Some really good stuff from this week:

Summer rain. Compliment from a coworker yesterday about how good I am at connecting with people. Park Sunday evening with us and the Randalls. Laughing and laughing and laughing at Ryan Hamilton’s comedy performance. Dinosaur island. Getting a little mountain time with a few wildflowers (some of my favorite purple ones), D being safe on his Timp summit, and June mountain green with blue skies.

Dinosaur island night. Wahoo!  Thanksgiving point had dinosaurs so we went and saw them. They also had ginormous koi fish. Whoever touched a fish got to pick dinner. That would be tanner who picked Slab pizza. It was a good evening. Then the girls went to the Randalls for some movie watching.

June 22, 2022

We had a fun time with out of state family in south Jordan celebrating Emily’s birthday. Food and games with fun followed by a Kelcie sleepover.

But the best part of the day was when this morning, my co-worker who is a regular at Roxberry and knows Rylie, got a smoothie on her way to work and Rylie gave her an extra to drop off to me. Awesome!

June 19, 2022

Happy Tanner's birthday! And happy Father’s Day. We had all our kids for dinner in South Jordan. We played two of my favorite games - SkyJo and Poetry for Neanderthals. Hopefully both Darren and Tanner enjoyed the day.

June 18, 2022

I have been wanting to camp inside Bryce Canyon National Park so 6 months ago I got some reservations.

It was great to be able to walk to the rim - which is where we spent a lot of time.  It was also great to have sunrise and sunset in the park. We enjoyed one sunset at Sunrise Point and one at Inspiration Point.  Plus sunrise on Friday was extra magical.

My initial plan involved lots of hiking but since my knee is messed up, it wasn't mostly rim walking.  But Darren did get to hike Fairyland Loop.

While it was not the trip I had initially planned or imagined, it turned out just fine. It was so enjoyable, we spent time at parts of Bryce that we haven't spent much time at.  I would definitely do this again.

June 12, 2022

Good Sunday. MR joined us for church and then we had a great evening with lasagna and games. SkyJo is one of my favorites and we played some Jackbox games where Raw Chicken (aka Rachael) schooled us all.

June 11, 2022

Granite Flat camping - good times. Made it up early enough to spend some time just relaxing. Hammocks we’re wonderful. D and I took a hike in the afternoon. Mill Canyon lollipop with a spur to “Pond Meadow” that Darren showed me. It was a great spot. There’s so much green - I love it! Also , there’s so many people - I do not love it! Back to camp for the kids to come join us. K, T, R, C, S plus the dogs came for some dinner and games. It was awesome all hanging out in nature. So awesome that the mosquitoes joined us. Which is why we played games in the trailer. Also - there is pollen everywhere. It’s like our campsite is yellow.

Day 2 - I went down for work and Darren went up to hike. He hiked Silver Glance and beyond with Baylie. Saturday evening we took dinner back up to the campsite for a few more hours in nature. Fabulous evening eating Costa Vida and hammocking. Then we packed up and came home. My knee is not being nice.

Sometimes you just need a little mountain music.  I ran up Pine Hollow by myself and made it to the second meadow.  Pine Hollow should be visited every year in June.

Good hike this morning with Sadie and her two friends. I love taking kids on hikes in the summer. Scout Falls felt good. Wendy’s frosty after tasted good. I loved listening to Sadie share stories and facts on the hike back down.

I also hike to one of my favorite AF Canyon views (on May 31) - the meadow at the top of Mud Springs trail with a view of Timp. This time I got there on a different trail than usual.
