July 29, 2019

Hey yall! Hopefully everyone is having a good week! This week has been good and full of small miracles. But you know what they say, by small and simple means, are great things brought to pass. But there have seriously been so many small miracles that it's hard to count all the blessings.

This week I just learned tons and have been trying to recognize all the blessings that god gives us. Elder Uchtdorf once said, "Part of our challenge is, I think, that we imagine that God has all of His blessings locked in a huge cloud up in heaven, refusing to give them to us unless we comply with some strict, paternalistic requirements He has set up. But the commandments aren’t like that at all. In reality, Heavenly Father is constantly raining blessings upon us. It is our fear, doubt, and sin that, like an umbrella, block these blessings from reaching us.

I want to share about Christy and Greg. So we had a return appointment and they weren't home, so we were walking to the car and there was a house across the street. Elder Horman asked if I've ever talked to them and I had talked with some people working on their car at that house a month or two ago and they were kind of grumpy, so I didn't really want to know on the door and run into them again. But Elder Horman said let's try it anyways, so I figured why not. We knocked on the door and Greg opened it and instantly came out and started talking to us. His fiance joined us and they opened up about some trials they are having right now. Also, side note, they offered us puppies because they didn't want them so unfortunately we couldn't. :) But we were able to teach them about prayer and the Godhead and they said it makes a ton of sense. We committed them to pray and ask God for helo during this hard time and they were really interested. I'm really excited for them!

From Mason's email:

Hey yall! It's been a good week that has been crazy busy for us! To start off, we had transfers and my new companion is Elder Horman. He's just a goofy guy from Texas and he's a solid missionary so I'm excited for this transfer!

The highlight of the week was definitely Richard's baptism. He is seriously the best! It was really memorable because Richard accidentally kicked the plug of the baptismal font so it was draining a little. Let's just say it took 5 attempts to get him all the way under the water. 🙃 But it got done!

It's been a really good week this past week, so hopefully the next week will go just as good. We found some awesome people and saw lots of small miracles!

From Mason's email:

This week we did have zone conference which was good! We learned a lot there! But other than that, we talked with a lot of people! Some were interested, and others weren't. We did meet this awesome family who were really hesitant about the Book of Mormon, but the spirit must have touched them while we were teaching because we ended up giving them a copy and they were like, "you know what, I need to pray about this." and we were like, "Yeah... You do!" We read Moroni 10:4-5 with her and she loved it and said she'd pray about it.

So basically we've just been meeting lots of people and having lots of success here. Richard has a baptismal date for July 20th which is exciting so hopefully I don't get transferred next week.

July 1, 2019

From Mason's email:

So you're probably wondering about the title of this email. We were on exchanges with the Spanish elders and I was up in Memphis. We had an awesome day and just taught a super spiritual lesson and Elder Dominguez says "you need to try taqueria express!" So Elder Dominguez is from Mexico and is one of the only missionaries in the zone who loves soccer so I love him and we're good friends. So I figured I could trust him right? So we went to the restaurant for dinner and he orders in Spanish so I have no idea what he got. I ordered just a normal steak burrito and we sit down. We'll he gets his food and he has three tacos with this "mystery meat" on it. I ask him what it is and he said cow tongue and is now convinced I had to try it "for the experience." So I ate cow tongue this week and the taste wasn't bad but the texture was nasty. 😂 Moral of the story, don't eat cow tongue!

But this week has just been full of awesome lessons and awesome people! Not much else to say.
