March 31, 2018

Solemn assembly was Spirit filled!  I may have been a little teary eyed. Thought of Mason standing and sustaining the prophet at the same time but in Arkansas.  Cool!  The Spirit witnessed to me that President Nelson is our prophet.

I think Elder Bednar's talk was my favorite.  Elder Wakolo's talk was great too especially with the Little Rock Arkansas reference (he was the mission president there just before Mason arrived).

While the boys were at Priesthood session, K R S and I had a backyard game of soccer with lots of laughing and a little amount of actual soccer.  C kept score and named our teams - Wooga Woogas and Sugar Boogers.

Mrach 30, 2018

Take me out to the ballgame!  D and I went to a UVU game and had a great time.  Lots of offense from UVU.  And the smell of...spray paint?  I guess chalking the lines is old school.  It was just a great night watching ball and chatting/commentating with D.  I just love that we have 24 years of memories and experiences that we can laugh about.  And that we can add to.

March 29, 2018

Good day.  Hike in the morning with Sariah and Lorien where we talked about future hiking ideas and we saw my favorite dipping birds.  Then after Sadie went to the dentist the two of us had lunch at Pizza Pie Cafe and then went on a tiny hike to Rocky Mouth Falls where we played and chatted and sat and Sadie said, "Thanks for dragging me into this.  This is so cool."  :)

March 28, 2018

Elder Maxwell - April 1986.  "When we see things as they really were, really are, and really will be, dispensations are merely seasons, new friendships are but relationships resumed, and prophets sent forth on their errands from the Lord reflect associations which arc across the ages as they later rendezvous on mountaintops and hills, in woods, fields, groves, and even jails."

Today was one of those snowshoes that we weren't sure where to go or what the conditions would be and it ended up being an awesome adventure around Willow Lake.  We love exploring east of the lake in the winter.

Tender mercy of a picture texted to me of Mason.  It was just what I needed.  Bless those member families in Cabot!

Date hike with D.  Dry Creek seems to be our go to. (Either that or Pine Hollow.) It was a great spring hike with my guy.

March 23, 2018

Today would have been an awesome hiking day.  Rain in the morning (not freezing) and sunshine at lunch.  I love hiking in rain, especially when it warms up.  Instead I went to Walmart.  That happens.

I just love watching The Voice with my girls.  Thank you Kenzie for your use of your Hulu subscription.

March 21, 2018

I got to help with Battle of the Books today at Sadie's school and it was fun to see her team take second place.  She's a cutie.

Also, Rylie got contacts.  Big day for her as she can now see as she did not like wearing her glasses and usually didn't.

March 16, 2018

Awesome snowshoe today.  Conditions were fantastic and we wandered through a winter paradise of powder, snow covered trees, and a blue blue sky.  Really, the sky was extra blue today.  There was a lot of powder and a little sledding.  Note to remember to explore to the west and south of Donut Falls.

Tonight Rylie had her final indoor game and their team looked good (that's not usually the case this season) and she passed amazing as always and even scored from defense.

March greeted me back with a beautiful spring morning.  Overcast skies with gorgeous clouds, great temperatures, and bird singing.  Sigh.

March 13, 2018

Cam and I met Darren in Washington DC for a 5 day vacation.  It was 2 full days of travel with 3 full days of monuments, museums, and metro.  Plus a temple Visitor's Center.
Observations:

  • There are Dunkin Donuts everywhere.  And we may have had breakfast there twice.  :)
  • Some museums are better than others.  (Especially art museums.)
  • Speaking of art museums, sometimes they make you carry your backpack on one shoulder.
  • It's cool to see the Washington Monument almost everywhere you go.  (And we blame Spider-Man for it's closure.  :))
  •  Talking to sister missionaries is the best.
  • The Holocaust Museum was so good and so so sad.
  • The Declaration of Independence is fading.
  • Don't eat at the National Archives cafe.
  • We really liked seeing all the animals at The Museum of Natural History.
  • Layovers can be long.
  • Riding bikes around the Capitol is a good idea.  Riding bikes through rush hour to The White House is not such a good idea.
  • Moving walkways in airports are way fun.
  • Also fun is watching Darren not move on escalators.
  • Lincoln Memorial is still my favorite.  Seeing the Gettysburg address by the monument was cool since Sadie just memorized it.
  • You get lots of steps on a DC vacation.
  • Singing High School Musical while walking around the mall with Cam makes me smile.
  • It's always a good choice to bring PB M&Ms.
  • DC temple Visitor Center is worth the effort to get there.
  • Trader Joe's popcorn is delicious.
  • Sometimes Dominoes is just the dinner you need.
  • It's always nice to see nice people helping others.
  • The squirrels there are crazy.
  • Chop't is a delicious salad place that we wish we had in Utah.
  • Getting tickets for The National Archives was worth the price when we skipped the long wait line.
  • Don't forget your backpack.

March 6, 2018

Good Sadie birthday.  Some presents and Froyo and watching Netflix while relaxing on her new air mattress and Mario Kart and Pizza Pie Cafe and Wonder and drawing and just birthday smiles all day from Sadie.

She's so fun to talk to.  We came up with this list of 11 things about Sadie at 11 years old:
  1. She doesn't like toppings on her pizza (just cheese).
  2. She likes camping (and backpacking).
  3. Her favorite colors are purple and blue.
  4. She likes playing kickball and soccer, running track, and kayaking.
  5. She has a lot of favorite animals.
  6. She loves getting Froyo.
  7. She really likes reading.
  8. She loves the Harry Potter movies (and books, but definitely the movies).
  9. She likes to wear long socks.
  10. She enjoyes Netflix - especially Phineas and Ferb lately.
  11. Pizza Pie Cafe is her favorite place to eat.

March 5, 2018

Awesome snowshoe/sledding/snowcone adventure by Tibble Fork up to Granite Flat as a pre-birthday celebration.  I took Sadie and Jessie and Becca.  They were all great and had a good time.  Adventure was had with snowcone syrup and a lost snowshoe and almost locked in the bathroom.  Plus Sadie got to penguin slide which is always fun for her.

5 months gone for Mason.  5 months of not giving that kid a hug or a high five or a kick in the pants.  :). I am loving the roadkill pics he sends.

We're a little obsessed with speed Uno lately.  It's made even better since we play it with our High School Musical Uno cards.

March 1, 2018

Good read in the temple this morning waiting for initiatory.

Psalm 1-
1 Blessed is the man that walketh not in the counsel of the ungodly, nor standeth in the way of sinners, nor sitteth in the seat of the scornful.
2 But his delight is in the law of the Lord; and in his law doth he meditate day and night.
3 And he shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of water, that bringeth forth his fruit in his season; his leaf also shall not wither; and whatsoever he doeth shall prosper.
4 The ungodly are not so: but are like the chaff which the wind driveth away.
5 Therefore the ungodly shall not stand in the judgment, nor sinners in the congregation of the righteous.
6 For the Lord knoweth the way of the righteous: but the way of the ungodly shall perish.
