Let the games begin.  (And the maddness and the trying to juggle schedules and the...)

March 30, 2012

We made it to the highly anticipated movie, "The Hunger Games".  It was me, D, Kenz, Mase, and we brought Clay.

It was FANTASTIC!  My only complaint is the shaky filming the first half hour but even that can't deter my enjoyment of this movie.

I'm a little ashamed of the picture above but it does depict the movie.  That happens.

March 29, 2012

This is the time of year when soccer practices are still fun our game schedule hasn't gotten crazy so we can enjoy going to the park for practices and usually remember when the practices are.  :)  (That was a long run on sentence.)  Unfortunatly, this practice period doesn't last very long.  That happens.

Cam looked so cute in her new pink shoes and pink sweatshirt.  Kids in sports gear make me smile.

We stopped for ice cream at Thanksgiving Point after getting Cam some soccer shoes.
So worth the $1.50.  It's little excursions like this that I enjoy.

I want to tell you about the unseen power of the Aaronic Priesthood. A boy of twelve is old enough to learn about it. As you mature you should become very familiar with this guiding, protecting power.
Although you cannot see the power of the priesthood, you can feel it, and you can see the results of it. The priesthood can be a guiding and protecting power in your life. Let me give you an example. ("The Aronic Priesthood" - Ensign, November 1981 - Elder Boyd K. Packer)
It warms my heart to see these boys be obedient and perform their Priesthood duties.

Fabulous evening!  Kenz and I went to the YW broadcast with Sandee.  After the broadcast we hooked up with Jill and Jac for some yummy U-Swirl.  (After we scarfed down our Costa Vida.)

I love seeing wildlife in the wild - from a safe distance of course.

Jill Heaps and I went on a hike (AF canyon - Pine Hollow trail) where we saw a moma moose and a kid moose.  Awesome!

Mason does not like track.

He runs track to stay in shape for soccer.  I also think he's humoring his mom and sister just a bit.  That happens.  At least friends and track sweatshirts make it slightly endurable.

I have love/hate feelings for the sandbox.  I love that the kids can create and play, but I hate that the sand makes its way into my house, in their hair, and pretty much everywhere.

Right now the sandbox is new for the year so my feelings are much more loving than they will be in a month or so...

Tonite we reviewed the proper way to eat Peeps.

First off, when choosing Peeps, always choose the bunnies.  When eating the bunny, start with the body.  Next eat the head, which saves the best part for last - the ears.  The ears have more sprinkle to marshmallow ratio which makes them the most delicious part.  Mmm...

I don't think there could be another fish loved more than Spots.  He's a good fish.

Hopefully the fish antibiotics will get rid of Spots' popeye soon.

Kenz all dressed up and looking so cute on a Sunday morning.

She's wearing her newly acquired necklace from earning her Young Womanhood Award.

Pay it forward.

Kenz and I were at Runner's Corner in line to buy shoes.  Kenz was looking at these headbands (above) but we decided that today was not the day to get them as she was getting shoes.  The man in line in front of us asked us to save his spot and he grabbed some headbands.  We thought he was buying them for his daughter.  When we got up to pay and the man had left with his purchases, the guy at the register gave us the headbands and said that the man in front of us had bought them for Kenz.  WOW.  How do you thank someone for that?  It made a huge impact on Kenz and I that someone would be so thoughtful and generous getting nothing in return.  Hopefully we can pay it forward in some way.

March Madness baby!  I love the first 2 rounds where there is always a game on.

The other day Sadie noticed basketball on the TV and she said, "look mom.  It's your favorite movie."  You betcha.

We had a fabulous trip to the zoo today.
Cam, Sade, me, and a bunch of cousins (plus some adults).

I'm becoming the crazy aunt.  I just hope I'm the fun, likable, crazy aunt.  :)

I think I said - let's all be an animal in this picture.  Not sure what any of us are.  Oh boy.

March 14, 2012

I had such a great 45 minutes today at the park with the kids.  I wanted to freeze things and remember the way Mason looked, the smile on Sadie's face, Cam's laugh, and passing the soccer ball with Rylie where our record was about 20 passes.

I'm sure I have hoped to remember other moments like that over the years but have somehow forgotten.  Hopefully this picture will remind me that my heart has been full many times along the years.  Sniff...

Thanks for the cheerful morning greeting Robert.

Mason and Clay entertained themselves by making duct tape wallets today.
Fun, I know.

Fabulous time biking on the Jordan River Trail.

First visit to the park this year.  Fun, I know.

My Rylie has a generous soul (most of the time).  She will give away prized possessions (to the person of her choosing) and wads of money.
Check out some of her creations she is going to give to others.

I can learn a lot from this cute 9 year old.

(Maybe her generosity comes from those blue eyes.)

I do enjoy me a good movie that I can share with the kids.
I did enjoy The Lorax with Sadie, Camrie, and Rylie.
