April 25, 2022

It was a good week last week. Celebrating Kenzie’s birthday with dinner and ice cream, seeing all my kids (though not at the same time) on Saturday, Tulip Festival with Cam and Sadie, hanging out Friday evening with the fam in the living room relaxing on the floor - listening to some Celine Dion for nostalgia, a little mountain time, a relaxed 5 mile run, green on the trees, two rounds of marbles and jokers, Sunday evening games where I came out on top in SkyJo, and more.

Mosiah 2:28 - join the choirs above in singing the praises of a just God.

I love the Book of Mormon. Truth and testimony of the Savior everywhere in that book. It also has phrases that I have been loving this year. A few to start:

1 Nephi 8:3 - I have reason to rejoice in the Lord
Enos 1:17 - my soul did rest.
Jacob 7:25 - trusting in the God and rock of their salvation
2 Nephi 30:15 - for the earth shall be full of the knowledge of the Lord
1 Nephi 18:24 - Blessed in abundance
Words of Mormon 1:8 - be a delightsome people.

Happy Kenzie's birthday. It was enjoyable to look back on this past year and see things we’ve done together. She’s a great:

Sister, hiker, coach, trunk lunch eater, tour guide, game player, gifter, runner and supporter, Handel’s ice cream initiator, cookie maker, picture taker, food appreciator, mural finder, pickleball partner.

Happy Easter for He is risen! Darren gave such a great Easter talk. I loved listening to him. Easter afternoon had us in South Jordan with family. Had a good chat with Jack (7 years old). I told him I was smarter than him because I’m older than him. He argued for a minute and then said, “Oh yeah? Then what’s 2 times 10?”  I told him 20. “You are smart.” He said.

Coyote gulch backpack. The most fantastic backpack!Awesome alcoves, green is out, temps were fabulous (and were projected to be cold so that was the best surprise), playing Hearts and Clayton kicking butt and taking names (he got the first heart and that was it), great camp spot (Clayton totally set up in the “bathroom”) that was 5 minutes to JH Arch and yet away from the crowds, perfect sitting log by our tent, soft sand for our tent, evolution of the boys from jumping on logs to try and keep their feet dry to just accepting wet feet and walking directly through the water, “birth of a day” with the sun coming through the arch, “birth of a night” with the moon coming through the arch (moon was cooler), cool striped tall walls at our campsite, the oasis (I’ve waited 4 years to get back to that spot) with a waterfall and soft sand and green contrast with the red for one of my very favorite lunch spots, Darren getting to see Stevens Arch, hanging with Mason, so many smiles and views. It was just the best 3 days “playing with the boys” (as Kenny Loggins sings.) Darren, me, Mason, Clayton, Taylor, Brian, and Taylor’s friend Taylor.
