June 30, 2020

Had a good early morning run this morning.  Summer mornings, especially after it rained the night before, are awesome.

Elder Maxwell - April 1988 GC. Here in mortality, we already know moments when, "because of the great goodness of God," there is a "gushing out of many tears" (3 Ne. 4:33). Our joy is brim (see Alma 26:11). Yet this is but a foretaste of the ultimate homecoming, when our cups will not only be brim, but will run over without ceasing!

Decided to just have a chill and hang out Saturday. It was so nice and relaxing. I need to have those summer weekend days and not always feel like we need to do something.

June 26, 2020

Had a good hike with Lorien to Desolation Lake. We took the connector trail over to dog lake and then headed back to the trailhead. The trail was so green and the lake was pretty. Hiking down from dog lake I remembered how 5 months ago we were sledding down that part of the trail.

Then it was shopping with K and C with a stop at Roxberry where Ry made us a yummy smoothie and açaí bowl. Playing - what face am I making - with masks on is especially fun. Cam and Kenz crack me up.

June 25, 2020

Kenz and I went on a hike this morning. I took her up to the Primrose cirque on the Horse flat trail. After we took videos and pictures of some ladies we looped around back to the car and hiked through Jurassic park. :). After our hike we grabbed some Jimmy Johns sandwiches. Hiking with Kenz and sandwiches just go together.

Thursday afternoon had Sadie painting and Rylie bringing me a Roxberry orange juice. Yum!

When you don’t realize Mason is around and then he just yells something like, “Moooom!” Or “I’m hungry!”

June 21, 2020

Spent Fathers Day with my dad and mom and us and my sister at Accord Lakes. Always good to spend some time in nature with family. We had hot dogs and sat around and chatted, played ladder ball, watched hummingbirds, and enjoyed the afternoon.

June 20, 2020

Timpooneke camping in site 25. D and I went up Thursday late afternoon and the girls (And Baylie) came up Friday morning and we all went home Saturday.
Classical music mountain biker. Lost at cribbage again.
Beautiful hike to Scout Flat. Green. Watched two deer at the shelf. I really enjoyed this hike.
Chili Fritos again while camping. :)
Love that we have a heater. Unfortunately it is loud. But it is also warm so no worries.
Morning hike to Julie Andrews. A deer jumped across the trail. Beautiful and quiet meadow. Birds were singing. Heard a woodpecker and watched some tanagers.
Great day with the kids in the mountain.  Mostly relaxing and laughing and reminiscing in the hammocks.
Also visited the campground meadow for a little fun and a few pics.
Darren ran off to bag a random Peak with Baylie.
Campfire with dogs and pudgie pie grilled cheese plus watermelon.
Trailer night watching guardians of the galaxy and then another cold night.
Baylie did good sleeping with Sadie and claiming her blanket spot.
Baylie was ready for a morning walk so I took her to Julie Andrews meadow for my second morning in a row.
Donut breakfast and pack up and home.
Good camping.

Good Sunday. Listened to a good Elder Maxwell BYU Speech in the morning. (March 1991 -  https://speeches.byu.edu/talks/neal-a-maxwell/in-him-all-things-hold-together/
Then Church at home and then evening at the Bateman’s seeing family we haven’t seen in awhile. I always like me a game of pickleball. Kids sang along to Phineas and Ferb on the way home. Then we finished the Book of Mormon with family reading. Love that book!

June 13, 2020

Got some camping in at Granite Flat, along with some hiking. It’s so nice to escape to the mountains. I had reservations for site 19 on Friday. D Decided to go up a day early set up in site 23 on Thursday. We wished that we could have stayed on site 23 for both nights as it was a great site. 19 isn’t bad, just not as good as 23. Cam and I went up for the evening on Thursday and hung out with Baylie and Darren roasting hotdogs and mallows. It was an awesome couple of hours. D and Baylie enjoyed a solitary night in the trailer. Cam’s quote - “When it comes to camping I’m ‘meh’, you like it, and dad loves it.”  Pretty accurate.
Friday morning I went back up and the three of us hiked to Silver Glance. This hike is my nemesis - I love it and it’s so pretty but it is so hard for me every time I hike it. But I made it and was rewarded with the most amazing views. Silver Glance still had snow. Granite rock plus snow plus pine trees plus a small blue lake is such a gorgeous combination.
After hiking I headed back to Lehi to get Mason and Cam and some Costa Vida for dinner. Another great evening at camp playing worker/boss/bum where D was the boss the entire time. Good times. We struggled to get a fire going with damp wood but made it happen and roasted some mallows.
M and C headed home with Baylie and D and I enjoyed a peaceful night in the trailer.
Saturday morning we packed up headed out but stopped for a hike first. Tibble Meadow was so pretty! It doesn’t matter how many times I go there, I always want to take lots of pictures. Darren pointed out that we could see where we hiked yesterday. Pretty cool.

I love snail mail. Brynnlee sent me a picture in the mail and it just made my day!  (It arrived with a little water damage.)

June 10, 2020

For this year's Mom/Kid Snow College friend getaway Patty had connections in Bear Lake so we headed up for 3 nights and 3 days.

It went something like this:
Sunday evening - Ping pong. Chatting. Lake sunset. Catch with Carson.
Monday - Old lady morning walk. Cold and windy day. Cold and rainy evening. Karma. Raspberry shakes. Rock stacking. Always cry when watching the movie Phenomenon. More chatting.
Carson is the rock skipping king.
Tuesday - Limber Pine Trail. Old trees and wind at the top. Also a cool tall bent tree.
Stopped at The Bear Cave to discover they have better onion rings than Quick and Tasty. Ping pong fun - sparky the dog was hilarious. A little beach time as it wasn’t freezing. Rock writing plus some kid burying. More Karma. Another old lady walk followed by a little fire at the beach and watched the awesome sunset.  Girls went on a teenage walk in the dark. They had lots of fun this trip.
Wednesday - sunny and warmer. Wahoo! Played at the beach all day. Got the dock out. Girls hung out there all afternoon. Kayaking and sun sitting also happened. Kids were all sunburned. Headed home.

June 5, 2020

Wonderful day. Hike in the morning that was just an all around great 3.5 miles to primrose cirque. Then Mason and I took a short road trip to ephraim and back. We stopped in Moroni at Biggies for some chili nachos. Then my dear high school friend Kirsti called just to talk and we chatted for an hour. Haven’t talked to her in a few years. She will always remain a dear friend that you can pick up a conversation even when it left off years ago. Friday evening had D and I at a wedding reception for Jared Keiser’s daughter and it was great to talk to Jug and Andrea. I especially love watching Darren and Jared laugh and tease and be good friends. Finished off the day with some Dickey’s BBQ and watching Jumaji 2 with M and C. Good day.

June 4, 2020

Setting - our backyard at 8:15pm. Backyard hangout going on.
Russell - on the fence. “Hey guys.”
Us - “Hey Russell. Whatcha doing?”
R - “Nothing. But I’m wearing my pirate shirt.”
R proceeds to jump down and come jump on the trampoline in said pirate shirt and what looks to be ninja turtle underwear.
10 minutes later.
Russell’s dad - “Russell! Get home.”  To us - “We thought he was asleep in bed. He can open windows now.”
It’s going to be fun watching this kid grow up.

June 2, 2020

Kelly King, Steph Pickle and I have been on a mission to get together more so we came up with a "Tour de French Fries" where we get french fries from different places and taste test them.  It seems to have now adopted the name of "Cries and Fries".  :)
