June 29, 2021

Kind of a disappointment Snow mom/kid get away. The “cabin” was anything but a cabin. Tara had a flat tire. My battery died. Mary Ellen didn’t make it. Slackers hamburger was not the delicious burger it usually is.  But there were a few bunnies, we hiked a bit, Becca and Sadie played awesome ukulele, there was a cool rainstorm, and it was Capitol reef.

My favorite part of the trip was Monday night around 10:00 and Sadie came in and said, “Mom - you’ve got to come see the stars.  And you can see the Milky Way!”  So I did. And we loved it.

June 25, 2021

I love summer hike mornings. We were to the TH at 7:00am to hike to Red Pine. Loved this hike. Overcast morning and then sunshine at the lake for a great morning hike! This lake is so pretty and the trail was so green.

This afternoon Cam got her license! Oh happy day. That has been a journey in patience for me and it finally happened.

June 22, 2021

Went with the ladies on a hike today - back to the summit. We hiked primrose Cirque which is such a quick and awesome 3 miler. Driving up the canyon we saw a deer in the meadow. Sigh. Then right before the parking lot we saw a coyote run to the trees. Way cool!

Then it was home to find our fridge is broke and we lost all the freezer food. Ugh.

But then tonight I was set apart as the first counselor in the stake primary. I do like getting set apart with the accompanying blessing. Just helps me feel the Lord’s love. The blessing mentioned desire and health and those two things have very much been on my mind.

June 20, 2021

Happy Father’s Day. I know some good ones. We had an amazing musical number in sacrament meeting of “There is Peace in Christ”. So good!

Went to South Jordan for a BBQ and played a fun new game in Wavelength.

June 19, 2021

Happy Tanner’s birthday. That guy is so great.

Darren and I went for an evening hike up AF Canyon. A good lollipop of snow gauge to horse flat to lame horse to horse flat back down snow gauge. It was pretty and again, frustrating. Will I always struggle on hikes now? Is this a forever thing or a 2021 thing or a summer thing? Ugh.

We found beautiful columbines along the way and one spot that was a Columbine garden. So cool. And lots of green which I do love.

June 18, 2021

Did a little hammocking up the canyon with some Panda Express for some family time. Good to have Ry back from Oregon (where she had a great time and saw some cool stuff.) Then we came home and watched a new Disney film - Luca. Good family summer evening. (Which there doesn't seem to ever be enough of these.)

I like how Desolation Lake has some flat rocks near the shore for you to sit on.

June 12, 2021

Today we continued our relaxing camping. Hammock reading and enjoying the outdoors. Then it was a late morning hike to Silver Glance. This hike was frustrating and so gorgeous at the same time. Don’t trip potato chip but do enjoy the amazing views from the north side of the lake and up a little. Besides the wonderful view it also smelled wonderful with mint. What a fantastic hour alone at the lake snacking and soaking feet and legs in the stream.

This was a great extended one night camping. Glad I booked the site 6 months ago.

June 11, 2021

Morning had a great little hike in Gloria falls with Sadie and moms and kids this morning. I loved the falls.

Afternoon had D and I setting up the trailer at our Granite Flat site 30 for some relaxation time.

Evening had us enjoying such a good time.. There were birds chirping and kids laughing and hot dogs/brawts roasting.  There was also a run through of a lot of just dance songs with their signature move. Also remembering a few songs made up over the years, mostly from Cam - Dance when you’re cold, waiting for a geyser, making some noise. Plus the classic dumpster song which is the oldest and made by K and M.

I’ve had the thought, “I sure love summer” about 733 times in the last 24 hours.

June 7, 2021

I needed a hike. I convinced Lorien and Sariah to come with me to Scout Falls. They were paving the timpooneke trailhead parking lot so we used the day use area truck. $10 for a great parking spot and a couple of hours in nature plus seeing a waterfall - worth it. Love this little hike.

June 3, 2021

Today was a good day.

Afternoon had Sadie and I going on another hike with the Bells and Owens. I took them up Willow Heights. Sadie led us through this awesome green hike. So pretty. And we spotted 3 moose while we were driving up the canyon. Plus we had a small snowball fight. Snowball fights in June are my favorite.

Evening had us at the Randalls for a showing of Cruella in their basement. Good movie and good times with the Randalls.

June 2, 2021

Spent a few days in Escalante. Kings got the group site at the state park for 2 nights and invited a few families to join. Us, Kings, Madsens, Garretts, Bartholomews, Martels. Great campsite. We played in the lake, at the campsite, and along the Hole in the Rock Road. We hiked to Zebra Canyon (short and skinny slot) and explored Devils Garden at sunset (probably my favorite part of the trip). We drove there through Bryce and home through Boulder to complete the awesome HWY 12. Cool road. Driving home we stopped at a few overlooks and Darren captured some cool drone footage of Lower Calf Creek. I was a bit disappointed we didn’t get to that hike but Darren didn’t get to a lot of hikes he wanted to do either.
