Awesome Moab two nighter with D. It took us all week to decide where to go but finally decided on Moab/Canyonlands which was a great decision. Arrived later Friday evening, hiked Saturday, home Sunday with a detour through Richfield.

I love running away with Darren.  A few things:

*Gilberto’s has “all the meats.”
*Darren creates cool hiking routes.
*Needles section of Canyonlands has many views and few people. My favorite. The views at the top of Lost Canyon and after Squaw Canyon - WOW.
*Recommend the Rocky Road shake at The Moab Diner
*The car show crowd this weekend is much different than the running crowd last month.
*Sitting against a rock with food is a good way to take a break.
*Hotel TV movie watching for the win after a long day of hiking.
*If you’re hiking 10 miles in 80 degree weather and you’ve worn long sleeves for the last 6 months, put sunscreen on your arms.
*1 Nephi 20: 21-22. And they thirsted not; he led them through the deserts; he caused the waters to flow out of the rock for them; he clave the rock also and the waters gushed out. And notwithstanding he hath done all this, and greater also.

Another beautiful morning sky. And a two poop bag early (6:15am) run with Baylie.

Also, Baylie has been hilarious with sitting right on people.  (This pink sweatshirt has been the sweatshirt of the past week.)

April 22, 2023

My run this morning before work had cool post rain clouds and 2 woodpeckers. Kinda cool to hear and then see a little woodpecker at two different spots.

Then work and a Richfield visit to see lots of family.

Pic from yesterday at Donut Falls.

Happy birthday to Kenz! We went out to The Thai House yesterday for dinner and then played some SkyJo. Today C and S skipped school to hang with Kenz and Rylie was here to join the fun.

I got out with Deb and Lorien and hiked to Donut Falls. Good, quick hike before work. It’s nice to be back to the mountains more routinely.

April 16, 2023

Another good Sabbath.  It seems crazy to say but I enjoy teaching Gospel Doctrine. We had such a great discussion today. Thanks to God for helping me in this calling.

After church we had M and Rachael, plus K and T join me, D, C, and S for games, dinner, and a walk to see the baby sheep.

April 14, 2023

Good day. The morning had me finally getting out on a snowshoe. There have been limited snow hikes this season so it felt really good to be out in the mountains. Lorien and I hiked to Silver Lake Flat. About 6 miles and 2 blisters from feet being out of snowshoe shape.

The evening had D and I in Ephraim for Rachael’s concert. Clayton and Sandee came with us. We had dinner with Mason and enjoyed some snow college orchestra. William Tell overture was my favorite. There was also Beethoven's 5th and a Russian piece. "One wonders..." :)

Happy Easter! “No three words embody more hope and eternal consequence for all of humankind than those uttered by a heavenly angel on Easter morning at the Garden Tomb: ‘He is risen.’” - Elder Stevenson GC April 2023.

Good sacrament meeting with my favorite song sung by the choir - Beautiful Savior. After church C and S found their treats with a scripture scavenger hunt. Then yummy dinner and hanging with K and T. It was a sunny, warm day which felt amazing. Happy Easter!

Kanab was good to us. What an enjoyable Spring Break with Darren and the girls. I told Darren that I think Kanab has a lot more for us to discover.

April 7, 2023

Started out the day at the Best Friends Animal Sanctuary. A tour was up first. “We’re seeing Wild Friends. Can we see the pigs? We’re seeing Wild Friends. Can we see the dogs? We’re seeing Wild Friends.” Wild Friends tour had owls and ravens and a cool turkey vulture plus blue shoe coverings.  :). We also found some cats at their cat place. Who knew that Darren was a cat whisperer? I didn't before this trip but we all know now.  We also found out a free vegan lunch isn't so bad.  We ate at the lunch place there with alright food and a great view.

Then off to the sand dunes. We found a fun spot before the state park area that we had to ourselves. It was a great hour and I even convinced the girls to come play for a bit. I do like the feel of sand.

Red Pueblo Museum gave us all the Anasazi information we will ever need. So much info that we then needed another McDonald’s ice cream cone.

Back to the hotel and a walk to the Kanab visitor center where I got me a postcard. Dinner at Big Al’s Burger. Another good day around K Town.

Happy birthday to my mom.

April 6, 2023

Took a little hike just above the town while the girls slept and got ready. Squaw Canyon was a good stretch your legs. We laughed at the trail guide (Grambel Oak and 75 different birds - oh boy).

We headed to Hurricane for Super Mario Bros movie with a drive through Zion. Zion was super crowded but we found two pull offs on the east side. First pull off was for a quick trunk lunch. It was cold. Second pull off Darren and I quickly explored Many Pools. There was water flowing down the rock and filling the pools. It was pretty cool if you're nature nerdy. Zion east side was pretty - some snow and icicles and water coming down the slick rock.

The movie was fun. Seeing it with the girls was awesome. Then we ate at Main Street Cafe for dinner. Back to Kanab via Arizona for some McDonald’s ice cream and relaxing at the hotel.

Oh - rejection for The Wave came again. $40 donation I guess. Ugh.

April 5, 2023

Spring break escape. We made it to Kanab. We stopped and got froyo along the way. It just so happened that there was kitten bingo at our hotel tonight. Kitten bingo?!? Yes please.  Sadie won twice and a kitten loved the Drapers. Dinner pick from Sadie was Lotsa Motsa. Great choice for salad, fettuccine, and pizza. I like Kanab. Or K-town as Darren calls it.
