August 30, 2018

I have cool friends.  Lorien took me repelling today and I was so brave.  We pretty much repelled off Battlecreek Falls.  I like repelling although after three times I was done.

August 29, 2018

I got to hike with my friends!  It has been over a month since I've been out in the mountains with Sariah and Lorien.  It was great to hike with them.  We hiked to Scout Falls.  Good little hike and on the way down a guy pointed out a moose eating down below.  I do like moose.

I finally got out to hike.  It has been too long and I've realized that I'm not quite myself when I don't get to the mountains regularly.  D took me to Grandaddy Basin in the Uintas.  We hiked to heart lake and could see Grandaddy Lake.  It was a great hike.  5.5 miles of beauty.  My favorite things on this hike was the smell of pine and the blue sky!  Sigh.

After getting home we loaded up everyone (included K and T) and spent 2.5 hours at Lagoon.  Mostly we just stood in line but that was OK because we talked and laughed and Kenzie's laugh was awesome.

August 22, 2018

I've been trying to take one for the team and take care of things and be the mom and the good dog owner and all sorts of stuff and I'm all for sacrifice bunt, but right now it feels like I'm sitting the bench.

August 20, 2018

My mission biking boy is working hard.

Also, back to school was rough for 2 and amazing for 1.  Sadie said, "Best first day of school ever!"  Maybe that'll compensate for Camrie saying, "I'm never going back to school."

To end the day we had a post rain walk with Baylie that included a rainbow.

August 16, 2018

What a day.  Surgery for Ry.  Always remember the special gray socks.  And her sense of humor.  Also it was nice to have a familiar face involved in the surgery with McCall.

Baylie had surgery as well.  I'm pretty sure she's harder to take care of than Ry.

Just thankful for old friends and new friends and friends in between.

August 13, 2018

Mason said in his email that he got hit by a car.  Luckily it wasn't bad with just a few bruises and a messed up bike tire.  But man it's been a rough week for the Drapers.  At least for Mason and Ry.  He's staying in Midtown and is excited to keep preaching the word there.

Also, Dr. Mario is still the best game ever.  I am loving playing it with Ry.  Although a broken clavicle doesn't slow her down one bit.  And she'll "come back like a boomerang."  :)

Also, Ry calls people - honey boo boo - and it makes me laugh every time.

August 12, 2018

I have an emotional love for red vines.  When Mason was born I was starving that evening and Sandee had left some red vines and they were so delicious since I was so hungry.  Well, Steph Pickle brought some red vines today and Ry and I ate them while playing Dr. Mario with her broken clavicle.  So now red vines are even better as I think about that.  Not that having a broken clavicle is good, but that girl is trying to make the best of things.

We went on a Sunday evening walk.  I like Sunday evening walks with the fam.  And there was no one at the park so we played frisbee with Baylie there.  I like playing frisbee at the park with the dog.

"There is no obstacle too great, no challenge too difficult, that we cannot meet with faith." - Gordan B Hinckley

Ry broke her clavicle tonight at soccer tryouts.  She has been awesome and so brave and tried to keep a smile on her face all night even knowing it's going to be a pain for awhile and require surgery.  Love that girl.

August 10, 2018

Made it to Lagoon with friends and kids.  It took us all summer but we made it - for 4 hours.  We were all baking like toasted cheesers but we had a great time.  Kings and Pickles and Drapers.

More fun after Lagoon was going to the movie with D.  Mission Impossible 6 was great.  I do like Mission Impossible movies and Ethan Hunt.  The only problem was Mission Impossible is such a watch with Mason movie.

August 9, 2018

I've said it before and I've thought it probably every night this summer - I love summer nights!  The warmth and the late darkness are my favorite.  I don't know how we're going to get back in school bedtime/wake up mode.  It's been late nights and sleeping in this summer for the girls.  Late nights of talking and Psych watching.

Roxberry will always be Ry's first job.  Well, first real job since reffing didn't feel too real but it did pay.  She's in the job groove now with two weeks or so in the books.

August 6, 2018

Good email day with lots of back and forth emailing.  So proud of that kid.  Taking about what to do in Memphis on Pdays - "So there's stuff to do.  If you're not a missionary.  On a bike.  Ugh.  But it's good.  Memphis is crazy and fun.  We live with it and make the best out of it.  I am really enjoying it though.  Life's good and I'm having a good time.  Once summer is over I'll be even better ha ha."

August 3, 2018

Girls camp is in the books.  There were plenty of frustrations, but also lots of smiles and opportunities to feel the Spirit.  And we brought home every girl we took.  Phew.  Some highlights:

Me being in the quiet cabin.
Natalie having an extra pair of ear plugs.
YCL Day.
Scripture study with the YCLs.
Having awesome leaders to hang out with.
Laughing so hard on Thursday for a good 30 minutes.
Longer hike with Alyssa Huff who was so excited to hike.
Sam coming on the longer hike and leading our discussion.
Getting a text on the longer hike since we actually got service and there being a text with a picture of Mason.
Breakfast hike and scripture study.
Seeing the quakies and remembering Sister Nelson's talk about it being OK to be the different tree that's not perfectly straight.  Then making our own analogy with the quakies of how they are all connected and yet they are each an individual tree and so unique.
The face coasters we brought that were a huge hit.
Lots and lots of rocks colored.
Seeing Emily Heaps and having her share her homemade cookies.
Mario Kart race.
Crab and french bread story from the devotional.
Night sky.
Morning sky.
Not completely losing it by Thursday.
"Sad - mad - glad and meanie - screeny - dreamy" skit.
Tuck in treats by Steph.
Testimony night.
Cyd Rollins' brownies she brought up for testimony night.
Bishop Rollins - "Sometimes you'll find yourself alone but you're never really alone.  Your Heavenly Father is always there.  But it is your responsibility to find Him."
