Handel’s ice cream for the win after starting school. We met K and T there. I love hearing the girls chat and laugh and converse together.

It’s just that I love summer so much. The warm nights, the daylight hours, the smells, and the sunsets lately - sigh.

Another one night mom/girl backpack in the books.
This year we mixed it up a little and backpacked up the Timpooneke trail and camped on the shelf. Our spot had awesome views. The only downside was the acoustics that allowed us to hear every conversation of every hiker heading up to Timp. But those same acoustics made the coyotes sound really cool during the night.
It was Sadie and me, Tamara and Becca, Allison and Libby, plus Jayne and Jessie came this year. We weathered out some evening rain (thanks to a suprise Darren and Baylie) and had the best time. Our trips tend to be super short and I told the group we should really aim for at least 24 hours next year. This year we left our houses and 1:00 on Thursday and were home by about 12:00 on Friday. :)

Just thinking about Sunday evening at the park where the kids (MRRCS) played groundies on the playground. It made me smile. They love playing that game.

We had a - last summer getaway for those who have lived at home this summer - at “Bear Lodge” in Brian Head. Year two here was great. The girls like it and it is a beautiful spot to be for a few days. We had cool temps and awesome clouds.

Happy anniversary baby - got you on my mind. 28!
Thinking back to this past year D and I spent together. It’s been a good one. Started off in Montana and ended in Brian Head. Also Alaska and a bear with glaciers and sea otters. Capitol reef with big horn sheep. Laughing lots including some comedy shows. A season or two of Alone. Coyote gulch. A new side of Bryce canyon. Trailer nights and tent nights. Kansas City and bbq. Zion sheep. Buckskin gulch. Sundial Peak in winter glory. Plenty of family Sunday game nights with jokers and marbles. Snowshoeing. Golden Gate Bridge and green trees in Yosemite. Lots of Costa Vida eaten together. Ephraim playing pool and eagle mountain watching movies. Canyonlands sleeping on the edge. Devils garden camping with some fiery furnace. Backyard sitting.

I have been wanting to get to Timp Basin. I decided to just hike it and pay for it after as I’m not conditioned with my knee for that yet. It was hard and long and slow going back down, but it was amazing! And I did it. 10 miles plus 2600 feet elevation gain. It took me just over 5 hours. Phew. It was a huge tender mercy and like Heavenly Father saying - “I know you haven’t been able to hike much this summer so I’m going to wrap all your favorite summer hiking things into one hike.” There were so many beautiful wildflowers, I heard and saw pikas, watched a deer bound away, saw plenty of goats, and 1/2 mile before getting back to the car a mama moose and her two kids crossed the trail in front of me. Sigh.
